Parliamentary Centre forges new partnership with Carleton University

Taking their long-standing co-operation to another level, the Parliamentary Centre and the Centre for Governance and Public Management at Carleton University have signed an official agreement to partner in delivering professional development courses for parliamentarians and stakeholders interacting with parliaments, such as public officials, civil society groups and others from various countries around the world.

The courses, which combine academic and practitioner perspectives, offer an opportunity for interested trainees to upgrade their skills and knowledge in important areas such as taxation in federal states, taxation in resource-based economies, sustainable energy and the role of parliamentarians, and communication, outreach and engagement skills for elected officials. Upon completion of the courses, the trainees will receive joint certificates from Carleton University and the Parliamentary Centre.

Jean-Paul Ruszkowski, President & CEO of the Parliamentary Centre says the Centre can expect to benefit a great deal from the intuitive intelligence passed on from Carleton professors.

“We are practitioners here at the Centre,” says Mr. Ruszkowski. “We look for solutions confronting parliamentarians, and universities bring the most up-to-date knowledge in fields that are of concern to the countries within which we work.”
