Juliette Schmidt is an independent senior democracy and governance expert with almost two decades of experience spanning political and electoral processes; reducing polarization; countering mis/disinformation; executive leadership training; strategic and crisis communication; conflict and risk mitigation; and program management for large, complex initiatives.

Previously she was Deputy Regional Director for Asia and the South Pacific at the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), where she oversaw programming in 10 countries and helped grow the department into IFES’ largest. She also served as Director of the Partners in Humanity Program at Search for Common Ground, where she worked to transform and mitigate entrenched conflict and radicalism and served as editor-in-chief of the international news syndicate the Common Ground News Service. She has private sector marketing and public relations experience and worked for both the Ontario and Canadian governments in her early career. She is fluent in English and French.
