Our Canada Program
The Parliamentary Centre’s work on Canadian parliamentarianism has been at the heart of our mission since our founding in 1968, when Peter Dobell and his team kicked off the organisation’s journey by providing non-partisan briefings to House of Commons and Senate committees on issues related to foreign affairs and trade. Our reach and focus gradually expanded to include thought leadership on the functioning of Canada’s own democratic institutions and processes.
Today, this legacy continues through our EngageParlDiplo (EPD) program, implemented in partnership with Carleton University. EPD brings together decision-makers, diplomats and thought-leaders for informed dialogue on the issues shaping Canada’s governance and global role.
EngageParlDiplo’s flagship events, such as the Orientations for Newly Elected MPs, the annual Orientation for Diplomats, and our annual Democracy Awards help foster a well-informed, connected, and resilient democratic community in Canada.
EPD is made possible through the generous support of our private sponsors, whose contributions directly sustain our initiatives. Without their continued support, our work would not be possible.
