Honouring a great man: Dr. Salifou Diallo, Speaker of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso
It is with great sadness that we have learnt that His Excellence Dr. Salifou Diallo, Speaker of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso, passed away in Paris on August 19, 2017.
The entire Parliamentary Centre team presents its deepest condolences to Dr. Diallo’s family as well as to the Members of Parliament and staff of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso.
We have had the great pleasure to work closely with Speaker Diallo, a man with a great vision and a man that has devoted his adult life to serve his country. Dr. Diallo represents what is most noble, stimulating and exiting in Africa. He has always been a man of solid convictions, a man of his word, and a man intent on always listening to the people.
We hope that his death becomes an opportunity for all of us who admired him to follow in his footsteps. His work will be accomplished when everyone works together. His dream was that Burkina Faso realises its full potential in an inclusive democracy. In his own words, this dream can only be realised if women are empowered and can fully participate in the economy of the 21st century.
To honour this great man and his life’s work, our task is to help his dream of a democratic and inclusive Burkina Faso a reality. The Parliamentary Centre is committed to continue its support to the National Assembly of Burkina Faso in his spirit. Once again, we offer our deepest condolences to Dr. Diallo’s family and the people of Burkina Faso.
