This certified professional development course was developed in collaboration with the Centre for Governance and Public Management at one of Canada’s premiere universities, Carleton University. It is offered for groups of Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, government and tax officials, as well as other key stakeholders. The course on taxation has a special focus on the Canadian tax system and its administration. A sample of some of the topics included is:
- An overview of the Canadian tax system, including an international comparison to other countries with established tax system, such as the United States and the United Kingdom
- A discussion of the tax agreements between the various levels of government in Canada
- Effective tax collection mechanisms and means of curbing tax evasion
- Innovative measures for bringing the informal sector into the tax net
Each course is designed to meet to the individual needs of our clients and partners. Participants will receive a mixture of the latest academic knowledge and peer-to-peer engagements with their Canadian counterparts, highlighting best practices and practical tools to apply the knowledge gained in their local context, and will receive a certificate upon the completion of the course.
